The Angel Tree 12/23/2010
The Angel Tree has been a tradition in our New Orleans office over the past ten years. Each holiday season, the GCTFS Foster Care program places ornaments representing each foster child they care for on the Christmas tree located in the lobby of the Oakwood Corporate Center (where the GCTFS offices are located). Individuals can adopt an angel by picking up an ornament and purchasing the gift listed on the ornament. All the gifts collected are then distributed to the children during a special Christmas party.
The party took place last Saturday in a nice Italian restaurant, in the presence of Sarah Hoffpauir, New Orleans Regional Director, and Rick Hardie, our CEO. The new TFC/SFC Program Director, Melissa Gaudet, successfully coordinated this year’s festivities, setting up the party in a private room where the children could comfortably open their gifts and take pictures. She was assisted by office staff members, Darlene Encalade and Jean Boudreaux, to make sure that the children and their foster families enjoyed themselves.
The children were well groomed and well mannered as they ate, took pictures with Santa, and opened their gifts. It was a great pleasure to see all the joy in their faces and GCTFS wants to thank the individuals who made this wonderful experience possible. |
