2009 Disability Rights Rally 05/08/2009

Hundreds of people gathered yesterday afternoon in front of the steps of the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. They all wore yellow shirts with the slogan "A waiting list is not a service" printed on them. The rally, organized by LACAN (Louisiana Citizens for Action Now), regrouped citizens from all parts of Louisiana. They joined together to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and meet with their legislators. GCTFS' Barrier Breakers were there along with some of the Baton Rouge office staff. Everybody enjoyed this experience despite the warm sun. Fans, umbrellas, and towels provided by Families Helping Families and water donated by Coca-Cola helped keep everybody cool.
