Spicy Travels! 07/24/2008

Hot spice and rice were the order of the day for clients and staff of Lafayette's SIL Department on Friday July 11th. They loaded up and drove to Iberia Parish to get an up close look at how the famous little red bottle of Tabasco Hot Sauce is made.
Everyone got to taste all the hot sauces in the Tabasco line and sample new exciting products that Tabasco is test-marketing. Clients and staff tried Tabasco chili, bar-b-que sauce, and salsa. They also savored the flavor of Tabasco soda and ice cream that were very unusual. After whetting their taste buds on all that Tabasco had to offer, they loaded back up and went to a near-by Chinese buffet for lunch. After lunch they toured the oldest continuously running rice mill in the nation, The Konrico Rice Mill in New Iberia. They observed how rice is grown and hulled and turned into brown and then white rice. After the tour of the factory they were treated to a sampling of Konrico's own Brown Pecan Rice they all agreed was very tasty.
