NOW is a Medicaid-funded Home and Community Based Services waiver program which provides a direct support professional to assist the individual with daily living needs in their home and in the community. NOW is intended to provide specific, activity-focused services rather than continuous custodial care. Such activities may include assistance with personal hygiene, light household chores, shopping, recreation, meal planning and preparation, eating, bathing, dressing, and proper use of bathroom facilities.This waiver is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Personal Care Attendant Services (PCA)
• Substitute Family Care (in Baton Rouge, Houma and New Orleans)
• Supervised Independent Living (SIL)

eligibility

Recipient must meet ICF/DD (Intermediate Care Facility for Person with Developmental Disabilities) requirements:

• Be age 3 years or older and have a developmental disability which manifested prior to age 22. Must meet the Louisiana definition for developmentally disabled.
• Meet income and resources guidelines set by DHH (Department of Health and Hospitals).
